Sisters and our brood... @ The Museum of Science in Boston, Mass.
So, I was tired of waiting around at my half unpacked home without any power or hot water. The kids were out of school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and were disappointed that they were not going to be able to have their classroom Halloween parties or the annual costume parade that the school always has each year. The Nelson family lives about 30 min. from us in Clarks Summit, PA (just outside of Scranton) and they only were without power for a day at the most. So, Melanie offered to have us come over and bathe and attend their ward's Trunk or Treat - since in my area, there were NO Halloween festivities going on because our community was still reeling from all the damage done by the storm, thousands without power in my area. We had dropped Daddy off at the Philadelphia airport to catch a flight to CA (2 1/2 hour drive there, 2 1/2 hour drive back) and received word via the school district's emergency message system that there would be no school again Thursday due to power outages and closed roads due to storm damage. My sister saw my picture of me cooking without power and offered to have me and the kids come and stay with her at her large home in Concord, MA. Hummm... most likely the kids won't have school Friday...I still don't have power... the kids are going stir crazy... I'm about to scream... She's only 4 1/2 hours away... I'll get to hang with my SISTA...
I'M OUTA HERE! Concord, MA... here we come! Thursday morning at the Nelsons we had breakfast and then headed East - stopped at our house to pack our suitcases for our 4 day VACA to Massachusetts and still found it to be without power. Jared rented a car when he got back into Philly, drove to Clarks Summit, and stayed in a hotel for the rest of the weekend.
We had a great time with Aunt Christina, Uncle Spencer, Emerson, Lincoln, and Bridger! Thanks for saving us!
