My Generation has never known the world without this blessing.

and for the ability to read them - for the spirit that permeates our home when we partake of these blessings.
I am thankful to have been born in America, to parents who discovered the gem of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in early adulthood and who committed their lives to striving for righteousness. I am thankful to have been raised in a home where my parents taught me to love God and Jesus Christ and search for answers to life's questions in the Bible and Book of Mormon
and through prayer.
I am thankful for the sacrifices made to bring The Word of God to the people -
that Nephi was obedient and faithful and went and did what was necessary to obtain the record (the Brass Plates) so that his family and generations of people beyond him would believe.
(see The Book of Mormon, The 1st book of Nephi chapters 3 and 4)
I am thankful for Martin Luther and so many other unnamed, quiet, and dedicated servants of God throughout European history who took part in the long, laborious process to bring about the translation of The Holy Bible - so that it could be made accessible to the people - and not just read from the pulpit. So that we could have it in our hands and read from its pages and feel of the Spirit as we studied the words of God. I am grateful that this book was read from and taught out of in the home of Joseph Smith, Jr. I am grateful that he was desirous to "ask of God" - to ask for more insight from our loving Heavenly Father, who will give to us gladly and liberally,
if we desire to have more!
I am grateful. For it has not always been this way.
