Today the kids pulled out their portfolios where I have kept their various art projects and various school assignments. They began to pull out and look through all their stuff with relish... I had just finished organizing them all, but had not labled the sections yet. As I am trying to put all the exciting things back into proper chronological order, Lindsey comes across a tracing of her 8 year-old body and Tanner asks for the up-teenth time where his tracing is.
I am blessed to have my mother living relatively close by. I say "relatively" because she lives about 70 miles away.
Some may think this is not close by, but if you ask my sister, who lives in Boston, Massachusetts...
I am grateful that my mother makes regular visits to me and her grandchildren. I think it works out that we get a visit from Gramma Jackie at least once a month, if not more. Sometimes Grampa Bob (aka: The Tickle Monster) comes along too, when he is finished with work and "The Claw" is properly rested...
Mom, do you remember, on one of your regular visits (this one must have been at the end of January), tracing Tanner's little almost 6 year-old body? He LOVED doing that with you! It meant so much to him to have you trace him and help him color in his face and body! I think we had it taped up on the wall for a week or two, I think it made it into a photograph I took on his birthday (I hope...). I told him, "I'm sorry, buddy. It got ripped and we ended up throwing it away! Would you like me to trace your body and help you color it in today?"
Tanner answers, "Na, I want Gramma Jackie to come over and do it with me. She is really good at it!"
Wanna come over soon????
Love you Mom!

Yup! Mom is the best. And tracing bodies is a great idea!!! I'll have to do that with Emerson, especially since he'll be turning 3 next week! Although, he won't be able to use the blue crayon for his eyes since Lincoln ate it this morning!! Yeah, no joke I had to brush his teeth for a long time. I'm excited to change a blue diaper soon. ;0[
