My children were so excited when Grandma asked them to sing with her "Silent Night". We spent a family home evening preparing by sharing the history of how this beautiful Christmas hymn came to be - how it was first sung during a Christmas Eve Catholic midnight Mass in Austria in 1818. Originally written for the guitar, my children sang with the piano, all their cousins and Grandma.
We were able to teach them the words to the first verse and even Tanner became confident enough and excited to sing this beloved Christmas hymn.
