2012 Flu, a dance concert and Emily's 12 Birthday!

It all started...

with Tanner on Sunday (12-16-12) evening.

We came home from church and had our late lunch/early dinner together.
Tanner didn't each much and then complained that his tummy hurt.
About an hour or two later, we took his temperature and it was 102 degrees!
He went to bed early.
Monday, Tanner stayed in bed and battled the fever.  Lindsey came home from school with a fever and by the end of the day, Julie had spiked a fever as well.  So inconvenient to have a house full of sick people when the busy holiday season is upon us!
We had a dance performance to participate in (Lindsey and Emily), Emily's birthday party, not to mention Christmas day coming up as well!

Sick babies all up in here!

This flu ended up being a stubborn bug that just HUNG ON!  Achy bodies and heads with congestion, coughing and the fever that just wiped you out lasting on average about 4 to 5 days!
Tanner was well enough to attend school on Thursday (for his class party that I had volunteered to make homemade chocolate chip cookies for).  Lindsey had to miss her dress rehearsal Wednesday night, but we were able to keep enough medicine in her that it kept her fever at bay long enough for her to be able to participate in the performance on Thursday evening.  But, the flu had reached Jared by that day - Jared stayed home from work Thursday as the fever got him down for the count on Wednesday night.
I took the girls to their Holiday Show performance and since Jared and Julie were still dreadfully sick, Tanner volunteered to stay home and watch out for them.  Arabesque Academy of Dancing's "Christmas Magic" was Lindsey's dance debut and they both did wonderfully - tapping away to "Hot Chocolate" from The Polar Express movie soundtrack.  I was hoping that it was just nerves that were making Emily feel not-so-good, but alas, she came down with the fever too and all the kids stayed home from school on Friday Dec. 21st - Happy Birthday to you, Emily!  Here, have the flu!  Lindsey still had the fever and everyone but me and Tanner were sapped of strength from this bug.
Emily took some Dayquil and we had a good time at her party!

Daddy even made a short appearance, towards the end of the party and Lindsey only made it halfway through before she went back to bed.  Julie never even made it out of bed.  Poor Lindsey's fever hung on for 7 whole days.  She was the last to recover.
Christmas Eve she was finally fever free!
I don't think our bodies were prepared for East Coast germs...
