This month's First Presidency message found in the Ensign and on lds.org encourages us to teach our little ones to pray. Pray always - this message has been coming to my attention for the past few weeks. We have family prayer morning and night, we pray before our family meals and we remind our children as we tuck them into bed to pray to their Heavenly Father because he wants to listen to what they have to say. Julieanna learned at a very young age to fold her arms and to bow her head in preparation for prayer (we are still working on the closing of eyes and sitting still...).
Tuesday, I was preparing lunch for myself and Julie. Julieanna was strapped in her highchair and I set her plate down on her tray. I turned back to the counter to finish preparing my food, when I heard her little voice, "Heavenly Fawder... sank sis day..." I turned quickly to see her bowing her head and folding her arms - she was praying on her own for the first time! There are no words to describe how precious that moment was, to hear my 2 year old offer a blessing upon her food before she ate it.
It is these kind of moments where a parent's heart fills with joy and the work you have put in to try and teach them is worth all the effort!
